Exploring Baby Bonds
Baby bonds are moving from theory to practice, through pilot projects and policy efforts. These sessions explore the evidence, the politics, and the design choices that matter, with information how your community, organization, or state can engage in shaping a more stable and hopeful future for families. All three recordings from our 2026 series can be watched below.
session 1
What does national polling reveal about public support for Baby Bonds? Join researchers from Johns Hopkins University as they present timely and compelling new findings from a 2025 poll about national support for Baby Bonds and gaps in support to inform policy conversations. Researchers will share updated national statistics on support for Baby Bonds and synthesize research connecting health and wealth. A bipartisan respondent panel will discuss the implications for policy and practice.
session 2
We’ll discuss how wealth (not just income) shapes health outcomes, stress, opportunity, and long-term wellbeing. Two leading health scholars will explore how Baby Bonds could serve as an evidence-based intervention addressing Social Drivers of Health (SDOH).
session 3
Supporting mothers requires addressing both structural drivers of health - like income and wealth - and immediate needs such as diapers, stress reduction, and cash. Vermont’s “Superbundle” led by the State Treasurer’s Office, integrates three powerful and complementary strategies:
- Meeting basic needs and reducing stress through diaper access and group-based mental health supports (MOMS Partnership®).
- Providing income stability via direct cash transfers during pregnancy and postpartum.
- Building long-term wealth through Baby Bonds to strengthen financial security across generations.
